Many dealer special caravans are based on a manufacturers entry level range, such as the Swift Sprite or Bailey Phoenix. There are however a couple of exceptions to the rule, Couplands Caravans offer the Swift Elegance based Bessacarr by Design, Spinney offer the Coachman VIP based VIP Vogue and Sussex Caravan Centre offer the Coachman based Sussex VIP and Sussex Laser.
The Coachman VIP is already a luxurious caravan with items such as the Alde central heating, Al-Ko ATC stability contol and Al-Ko Secure Lock as standard. The Sussex VIP adds to the specification with a 100 watt solar panel, silver grey sidewalls, unique graphics and exclusive soft furnishings.
The Singleton VIP, named after the village in West Sussex (all of Sussex Caravan Centre ‘specials’ are named after villages in Sussex) is based on the Coachman VIP 565 offering a ‘four room’ layout with front lounge, mid kitchen area followed by twin single beds and a full width washroom across the rear.
Unique to the Sussex models, compared to the ‘standard’ Coachman version, are the graphics with optional front and rear Sports Stripes. The teal colour is based on that of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team.
The same colour scheme is carried on inside with teal coloured piping, scatter cushions and throws for the two beds. At the front the seats can be made into a 4’7″ wide double bed.
The kitchen is as per the standard VIP with a Dometic oven, fridge and Daewoo microwave. New for 2019 are an additional 230v socket and a lift up extension worktop. There is also a removable draining board as standard which is not shown on this display model.
Looking towards the rear, a folding door separates the bedroom area from there rest of the caravan. This partition fits next to the wardrobe.
In the bedroom the two single beds are 2’4″ wide with the offside bed being 6’2″ long and the nearside bed being 6″0″ long. There are 10 scatter cushions with these fixed bed models, enough to dress the lounge and bedroom areas.
In the washroom, the Dometic toilet is to the left and the shower is to the right. The towel rail is heated as part of the Alde central heating. Behind the mirrored doors there is a shallow cupboard with a shelf.
The Coachman Sussex Singleton VIP isn’t like many other dealer special, the specification doesn’t differ much from the standard models, it’s the different exterior and interior that make it stand out, and with the optional Sports Stripes make the standard model a little plain. Overall looks are the main reason for choosing a Sussex VIP over the standard model.
Sussex Caravan Centre also offer Sussex models based on the Swift Sprite (Expression) and Challenger (Impression) and the Elddis Avante (Premier Edition) and Affinity (Premier Plus Edition) and uniquely across all three manufacturers, the graphics follow the same style with Swift being burnt orange and Elddis in blue and red.
